Had to take the family car into the shop for a tune up and an oil change over the weekend. That’s always a fun thing to look forward to. Besides having to dish out our hard earned money, it plan sucks sitting there in the waiting room for several hours with nothing but a stack of outdated magazines that I would think of touching these days. The threat of the Swine Flu has cured me of touching anything that I think someone else might have touched in any public place or area. I’m definitely using more and more hand sanitizer and washing my hands a lot more in an effort to keep healthy during the up and coming flu season.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that this trip to the garage offered me, and the few other customers, a newly installed brand new HD 54″ Flat Screen TV for us, the customers, to watch and enjoy while waiting for our vehicles to be released. I noted that they also signed up for a Direct TV Business package which provides folks with plenty of channels to choose from to keep them entertained instead of watching the clock, nervously.
I think that Commercial Direct TV is a great idea as long as the men that are waiting and channel surfing don’t hog the remote like they are so well known for doing at home. With people so stressed out these days, it wouldn’t surprise me to hear on the news a story about a remote control brawl taking place. I’m sure if my ol’ man had to take one of the vehicles to the shop he’d appreciate being able to watch his favorite shows on Commercial Direct T V and I’d bet that he’d be hanging tight onto the control, he is a creature of habit, that one is.

You can hear the rumble of Harley’s for miles as they all gathered to start a poker run for Justin. Justin is a local 4 year old that was diagnosed with leukemia a month ago. His parents don’t have much so the expense for his treatments are a real strain on the family since the mother had to quit work to stay by Justin’s side.
Not even one of these tattooed, long haired, leather clad bikers knows Justin or his parents but they know the child needs help so a local group of bikers who had heard about Justin from a family member that knows his mother decided to put together a poker run to raise money for the family.
A poker run is where a group of bikers pay so much to enter the run, then follow a course collecting playing cards at designated stops in hopes of having the best hand at the end of the run. The bike with a winning hand collects a monetary prize. Not this time. Not one single bike accepted anything. In fact, at the end, a lot of them donated even more money than just giving the entry fee. Altogether, there was over $5,500 raised for Justin. Many of the bikers that have a business of any sort are putting up donation jars in their businesses too.
Now who said dirty old bikers don’t have a heart? Sure wasn’t me!!!!! Justin and his family are in the hearts of all of us now. His little life is in the hands of a higher power than any of us but our thoughts and prayers are with Justin and his family.
