This is my own recipe that I came up with, years ago. It’s a family favorite all year round. Really good for tailgating, too.
1 pound Hamburger (Ground Chuck is best – if you can get it)
1 small Onion, finely chopped
1 cup Ketchup
1 Tb. Yellow Mustard
1 Tb. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tb. Worchestershire sauce
1/2 cup Dark Brown sugar
Brown Hamburger along with the chopped onion in frying pan. In sauce pan add ketchup, mustard, vinegar, Worchestershire sauce, the brown sugar and stir on low heat until meat and onion are done. Add the browned hamburger and tender onion to the saucepan mixture and cook on low for 20 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste.
Serve on hamburger buns with tater tots and chunky applesauce on the side.
